1. What is information technology ? and why is it important to a business ?

Information technology is an equipment for people ease in using, searching, transfering or get an information.
It is very important because in business they need information in all procedure of transaction.
Ex : when we purchase something from a supplier, before that we need to get or collect some information about the standard price first, yet we know about the standard price we can do bargain when the things is too expensive.

2. Identify the main component of an Information System ?

The main component of IS is input, proces, output, feedback.
An information that we input into a computer with some input device, thus the computer do the process to collect and combine all the data in the database after that it will output with a report with a screen in our monitor, printer or some what else and feedback will occur when some data do not match or error.

The details component of IS :
- Hardware : devices that control and allow people in sending data into a computer.
o input device like mouse, keyboard
o Output device like monitor, printer
o CPU as a prosses device
- Software : programs that control between hardware and application software.
o Antivirus
o Adobe reader
o VB
- Procedure : a method in developing a software application.
- Users : people that allow to use the application.
Data communication : transmission data which form digital to analog or a signal transmission within a single IC chip.
- Network : computers are connected with and to purpose of sharing data.
- Data storage : a software that allow data stored and shared or database.


3. Describe five type of Information System and give me an example of each!
- OAS (Office Automation System)
A based system that includes and provides applications such as a word processing, spreadsheet, database, or mail.
Ex : in a company they need these application to get information, to searching, to planning a strategy. For instant, a company need a database to keep the data safely and etc.
- MIS (Management Information System)
A system with covering of technology applications to solve a business problems
Ex : in a cycle of business they need reporting periodically from accounts, inventories, purchase to statistic the result of a company and Information System will help and control the company managing enterprise with applications that IS provided to develop.
- KWS (Knowledge Worker System)
An application that designed to help knowledge worker or professionals to use the information or input process.
Ex : an autocad application that design for architecture engineers to develop the design or plan.
- ES (Expert System)
A system that provide software to solve a specific problem.
Ex : when there’s got problem in a company the system attempts to solve a specific problem with their different knowledge from expert system technlogy.
- EIS (Executive Information System)
Is similiar with MIS but this is used for senior executives to support decission making.
Ex : usually a top manager need to analysis both the internal and external information to make a decission and achieve the goal of an organization.

4. Describe the phases of the system development life cycle ?
- Planning with gathering informations, plan from many economic aspect, shcedule aspect, technic aspect and opertaional aspect.
- Analysis we analysis with all an error possibility and understand the problems htat will occur and the best solution.
- Design after analysis , we do the design from an image with a logic concept to a real design.
- Selection select the most useful and complete from the design.
- Development programmer will develop the design that has completed to make a program.
- Implementation users training after the programmer verfied and valid with the program they created.
- Maintenance they will correct the error occur when they do the implementation.

5. Who are the Information System users and explain about they are needed ?
The Information system users are :
- Clerical
Clerical worker usually need some simple applications such as microsoft office to do their jobs (Office Automation System).
- Lower level manager
For lower level manager they need some technology application to control the worker and they also need to collect the report from the worker then hand on to the upper manager (Management Information System).
- Middle level manager
Use Knowledge Worker System to make a decission from the report of lower level manager and it is also can used by knowledge worker.
- Knowledge worker
Knowledge worker need expert system to solve problems from the organization and to procedure the structure of organization, beside using the expert system, knowledge worker also can use the knowledge worker system to solve the problem too.
- Executive manager / top manager
Are using the Executive Information System that will do the conceptual decission in an organization.
